Elite Veteran Posts: 864 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Bartlett, TN | Anyone else?? Come on James, I would be more than happy to co-drive your Spyder, or bring your M3, there are several old school BMW's out there doing quite well too. Come on Jared lets see that Audi TT out or at least the Spyder. Hello Chris, bring the MK1 MR2 AND the Lotus! Elliot, Donnie, Clint is bringing his gen3!!! Anyone else??? Anyone else think they can keep up with me?!?! My new tires are making me faster, so come on to this AX before I get used to driving my MR2 with some real grip! I hit more cones than I ever have in 1 AX at the AX in HS last month all because I am having to re-learn how to drive my MR2 now. So, come on out!!! Daniel

YourDaddy Posts: 2260 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Memphis, TN | I'm trying to figure out the tires on mine as well. I put the less-sticky tires on the rear as I was losing grip up front before the rear before. Now I can swing the back REALLY well, probably a little too well! :D Eliott may come on out, just depeds on if he gets it in for the exhaust this week (kind of doubtful, but we'll see). We'll have to see what Jared brings... honestly, it's probably not broken in enough to drive the TT at it. I don't think I'd risk that one!

Elite Veteran Posts: 864 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Bartlett, TN | Yeah, figuring out the tires & the pressures it likes is tasking me right now. But, I am really having to re-learn it a lot more than I thought I would. With the lower ratio steering pinion & these much bigger Dunlops (even though I have the small set up on for now 17x7 215/40 front & 17x8 235/40 rear) the MR2 moves much faster when I turn the wheel making for MUCH FASTER transitions, no more waiting for the tires to move in the direction I want it to go like I used to have, so I was hitting cones since my turn in is sooooooo much quicker to respond. I left a good 1 - 1.5 seconds on the track at the last AX just trying to make a clean run without pushing it too much. A few more AX's & I should have it down though. Can't wait to see your MR2 there Ryan with a tight suspension, it aught to be real quick! Daniel

Regular Posts: 88 ![]() ![]() ![]() | IM ALL SET TO GO THIS SUNDAY! New endlinks for the rear swaybar from twos r us installed , Awesome! Routed the wire for the speed sensor and drove , still poping a check engine light , will diagnose tonight . Didnt seem like it came up as quickly , car felt like it had more power. Troubleshot the no intercooler fan working down to bad relay , rerouted all the wires off the crossbar because of melting . looks better too.

Elite Veteran Posts: 864 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Bartlett, TN | 88Blacktop - 3/24/2010 9:09 AM 70% chance of rain, damn! What, you afraid of melting or something?? SCCA still runs in the rain & I will be there. Nothing will teach you more about driving your car than pushing it while in the rain in a NICE - SAFE environment. Shagging cones is another thing, but still fun! If you don't come out because it rains or might rain then you are a bunch of SISSIES & WUSSES! Daniel

YourDaddy Posts: 2260 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Memphis, TN | it's just not as fun to me in the rain! it would be without my bald ziex on the back. I had them on the front but the front would lose grip first and that sucked (like a front drive car) and now that I have them on the back I can swing the back, but a little too well in the rain. hell, I can break them lose with 170hp in the rain in 2nd gear in a straight line in the rain... Maybe I'll bring the 49 chevy instead... what class would that be in? Inline six with 90Hp and everything... I'd bring the wife's altima V6, but she won't let me...

Elite Veteran Posts: 864 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Bartlett, TN | YEP, SCCA runs in the rain! The only thing that will stop the runs is lightening or strong thunderstorms (Severe Thunderstorm Warning) & of course a Tornado Warning! Daniel

Elite Veteran Posts: 864 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Bartlett, TN | Okay, the weather looks like it is breaking we now have forecasts for Sunday ranging from 20% to 10% chances of rain or just Mostly Cloudy! You know though, running in the rain is what separates the men from the boys & the women from the girls. So you have to ask yourself... ARE YOU MAN (or WOMAN) ENOUGH TO RUN IN THE RAIN?!?! Veteran Posts: 299 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Memphis, TN | I would be there but it seems Yokahoma doesnt want to make S drive tires in my size (or any size near it) till the second week in April. I tried 5 different large vendors and noone can get them. Been waiting for them since early Feb My Generals are SHOT with 3 of 4 tires having plugs in them and the front left, with 3 plugs, is loosing about 3 -4 pounds daily in my 1 mile commute. Oh and I have been on wear indicators for 3 auto-xs and 3000 miles. Next time I am buying in Dec and putting in the garage. Seems everyone had the same idea I had ..wait till early Feb and order once the snow starts to melt Oh well there is always next time. Man I want to be racing this weekend

YourDaddy Posts: 2260 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Memphis, TN | Autocross was great. I wish I would have run. I think dan had the best mr2 run of the day followed by Jared. Both turbos were doing great and chase looked like he was doing good (for a spyder)

Elite Veteran Posts: 864 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Bartlett, TN | The Audi would have kicked butt. That course was perfect for an AWD car with some soft suspesnion settings. That is why Drew did so well in that black STI (2nd in Raw Times) with a killer run. I can't complain too much though I was 3rd over all in Raw Times. But, all -in-all I think the MR2 crowd put down some really good runs. We looked impressive, that is for sure. I know I am still messing with tire pressures & figuring out the quick turn in that I have now with these new tires & that lower ratio steering pinion. My MR2 has NEVER handled this well before. I think at least 3 more AX's & I should have it all sorted out. I will start another thread with the results! Daniel
